We went to the Little Taj Mahal, which was magnificent too! There was inlayed work everywhere! The tombs of the people were found in each room throughout the structure. It was great to go here, because you could take photos of the different rooms inside, unlike the actually Taj - which only had one large room.
Then we headed to the slums of Agra.
We continued driving around seeing many people and unique sights! It was really nice to be able to explore the area!
Horses, People, Goats, Camels, Watermelon and Bus loads of people in a truck!
t was then a short drive to the Agra Fort. Built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in AD 1565, the fort is predominantly made of red sandstone. The vast halls echo the voices of a bygone era and transported us back through the passage of time. Our guide filled our heads, with tons of knowledge about the fort, including who stayed in the different rooms. Two motes surrounded the fort - one filled with water and alligators and the other with wild lions, tigers and other animals you would not want to encounter! Luckily all that remains are the walls of the motes. We went from section to section, seeing the Taj Mahal in the distance. It was amazing!
A Giant Bathtub!
We took in more sights of the city as we made our way back to the Taj for sunset!
Can you see the monkey?
More monkeys!
We went to the sight of what would have been the Black Taj Mahal if it was ever built! We had a gorgeous view of the Taj as the sun went down!
We headed back to the hotel for a very late dinner! I had a health drink (not really sure what that contained), Yellow Dal (my favorite) and Garlic Naan! The waiters brought me a kind of birthday cake (it was mango and strawberry pudding like) and everyone sang Happy Birthday! Today was awesome!
