Day 69 - Ho Chi Minh (Part 3)

The wires in the city were just unbelievable!

After the cycle ride, we went  to have lunch at Pho 2000. This restaurant is where Bill Clinton ate in 2000, so therefore they changed the name to reflect this! The food was very good! We had rice paper rolls and vegetarian noodle soup -  although I couldn't name any of the vegetables that it contained! I did spot a carrot and I found out there was tapioca, some type of wild mushroom, something that looked like a pear, and something that looked like a slice of a brain!  Regardless, it was good, the noodles amazing and it was fun to eat!

Then it was on to Ben Tranh Market - the largest market in South Asia!!!  It was amazing and I thought yesterday's market was huge! Around the outside of the market, was the government's fixed price and the inside stalls allowed bargaining.  The market was divided into sections - clothes, baby clothes, lines, dresses, shoes, souvenirs, food, herbs, medicines, trinkets, cups, porcelain, and so  much more!  It was great fun to walk around and see the many different things!

Next we visited Reunification Hall, which was the former Presidential Palace build in 1963.  This is where the North Vietnamese tank crashed through the front gates on April 30, 1975 which signaled the end of the Vietnam War.

We were then off to visit Notre Dame Cathedral, which was built in 1877 and the Central Post Office.  The French built both of these sights and inside the Post Office it looked more like a train station. It was huge and decorated beautifully!

Then we stopped at a Lacquer Shop! It was amazing! The people working in the shop each had a specific job in order to make the most amazing pieces of art!  The bowls, plates, vases, etc where all designed beautifully!
